Physical media, to us, is way more than a trend. We've been collectors our entire lives and come from families of collectors, as well. Finding where to source your collection goes beyond just buying something. We've created this list of small businesses that we feel price fairly, are a part of the community, and are collectors themselves. But first...

The answer you don't want to hear...

We know you've searched forum after forum and asked everyone where on earth can you find VHS. The truth is (just to get this part out of the way), thrift shops are your best friend in this case. A local family thrift, Facebook Marketplace, garage sales, estate sales, and even Half Price Books often have a treasure trove of physical media.

We know this isn't new information, but there's a reason everyone says it. A small tip for hunting at these shops, you're more likely to hit that jackpot if the store is a bit further away from a city. Just something to try out!

Recycled Books

The infamous Recycled Books is home to over half a million books, records, CDs, DVDs, and VHS. What was once an opera house in denton is now one of the best spots to grab physical media of any kind!

Rag and Bone Records

Take a trip to H.E.B. No, I don't mean the Texas based grocery store. Hurst, Euless, and Bedford has always been our best kept secret for the coolest shops! Rag and Bone primarily sells records (obviously) and setups for your home, but did you know they also have a good selection of VHS? Every time we drop of our zine, we take a look at Heather's shelf. Though it's quaint, there's always something rare that we can't help but walk out with.

Little Plank Vintage

Once you're down at Rag and Bone, race your friends across the parking lot to Little Plank Vintage! We're talking stacks upon stacks of VHS. All fairly priced and tested. A whole room is dedicated to Erica's extensive collection. You can find anything from the ultra rare to your favorite classics.

Phantom Finds

Though they don't have a traditional brick and mortar, you can catch the couple at most pop-ups around DFW! Very fair pricing, enormously wide selection, tested, and coming right out of the loving collector's home.

Spider's Cave and Leviathan

On the top floor of the North Dallas Antique Mall, both Spider's Cave and Leviathan have insane collections of VHS to look through. They had titles that I had never seen anywhere else.

Dallas VHS Swap

Be sure to keep up with the dates of this event! Frequent vendors like Caitiboop, Little Spark Films, and The Video Nook all have had some insane finds.

Horror Freak Video

On the lower level of the North Dallas Antique Mall, Horror Freak Video stands out! Modeled after our late, great Blockbuster, is a large collection of VHS beyond the horror genre.

Coffee Pop-Up Boutique

A coffee shop meets a sustainable clothing shop. When we say rare, we mean RARE. They're often hosting events, markets, and open mic nights, as well!
